315 Study Room Use Policy

315.1 Purpose

The Study Rooms of the Plano Public Library (PPL) are a shared public resource, intended for individual or small group use.

315.2 Study Room Use

Study rooms are intended primarily for study, reading or other educational purposes.

Study rooms are not available to be used for any of the following:

A. For commercial advertising or direct solicitation of clients or customers

B. For fund-raising

C. For events which directly profit the business of a commercial organization or individual

The Library Code of Conduct applies to study rooms. Noise should be held to a reasonable level as the rooms are not sound proof.

315.3 Study Room Reservation

A Plano Public Library card is required to reserve and use a Plano Public Library study room.

Study rooms are available for reservation and use during Library hours, from opening until 30 minutes before close.

Study rooms may be reserved up to 2 days in advance using the online reservation system.

Reservations are limited to two reservations per week across the five PPL locations, with a maximum of 2 hours per reservation.

In the case of groups using the room, one library cardholder represents the group for its duration in the room. Consecutive reservations by other persons of the same group are not permitted.

Individuals/groups that have used the room for their reserved time may continue in the room if there is not a subsequent reservation.

Study rooms will be held for 15 minutes after the reservation start time. After 15 minutes, the reservation will be considered a no-show and the study room will be released. No-shows will count against the reservation limits.

Failure to comply with the Library Code of Conduct and the above Policy may result in immediate loss of Study Room use privileges, and denial of future Study Room reservations.
